Pelosi Admits Capitol Security Failure in January 6 Protests While Dodging Self-Blame

The latest revelation from the January 6 debacle features Nancy Pelosi, a politician known for her ability to dodge accountability, now admitting that she and her team dropped the ball when it came to Capitol security. A never-before-seen clip, filmed by her daughter, captures her expressing frustration that the National Guard was not deployed beforehand, while somehow managing to avoid placing any blame on herself or her party.

In the video, Pelosi notes the glaring absence of National Guard troops, stating they should have been on site from the get-go. Instead of owning up to her failure to ensure security, Pelosi seems more concerned with redirecting blame. She even had the audacity to suggest that the Capitol’s lack of fortification wasn’t her responsibility despite being one of the highest-ranking officials in the building. This comes as a twist in the narrative that has painted Donald Trump as the primary villain of the day, while conveniently ignoring the operational role of Pelosi and her party.

It’s rather amusing how the narrative spun by the Democrats hinges on the idea that Trump was supposed to magically secure the Capitol. In fact, Trump had offered to dispatch federal troops to ensure safety. This little gem, however, was buried by former Rep. Liz Cheney who, in the relentless pursuit of an anti-Trump agenda, likely figured her committee couldn’t withstand the truth. Documents from the time indicate that D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser also rebuffed Trump’s offer, shining a spotlight on the incompetence of local officials.

Pelosi’s acknowledgment that “we have totally failed” is the perfect exclamation point to years of finger-pointing at the former president. After spending three years and almost $20 million to weave a narrative of Trump’s culpability, this footage drastically undercuts her team’s amateur dramatics. It’s abundantly clear that her own admission, while framed as a reluctant acceptance of responsibility, reflects the broader failure of Democratic leadership.

The irony of a Democratic leader confessing to massive oversight while attempting to rally the troops against Trump is practically comical. This latest clip is a gift for the right, providing ample ammunition to dismantle the incessant blame game synonymous with Pelosi’s tenure. In the end, while she may be seething about the lack of guards, it’s high time she looks in the mirror to address how her failures led to the chaos that day. The truth is there, just as it has been all along: maybe the real question should have been why the Capitol wasn’t secured long before January 6.
