Tucker Carlson’s recent interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin was a real eye-opener for Americans. Now, let’s make one thing clear, Putin is not somebody to be trusted. But, in this lengthy discussion with Carlson, Putin shed light on something important: how Americans have lost their patriotism by falling for leftist propaganda about U.S. history.
The focal point of the conversation was Putin’s thirty-minute history lesson in response to why Russia invaded Ukraine. At first, Carlson thought Putin was avoiding the question, but upon reflection, he changed his mind. When you watch that segment closely, you can see the striking contrast between how Putin talks about Russian history spanning hundreds of years and how Americans discuss the U.S.

Suffice it to say that modern Americans struggle to comprehend a leader who exudes passion and admiration for his country. The idea of President Joe Biden delving into the complexities of the American Revolution, the Civil War, or the Indian Wars without highlighting the left’s distorted narrative is laughable. Under Biden’s regime, America would be drowning in anti-American sentiment, with no recognition of the bravery it took to build a nation dedicated to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Instead, we would be forced to feel ashamed of our Western ideals, which have led to the end of abhorrent practices like slavery and human sacrifice.
Apart from the creation and salvation of mankind, the formation of the United States is a monumental event in human history. It was a nation created by the people, for the people. The beauty of it lies in its decentralized power, with individual states granting citizens the right to govern themselves. Sadly, many Americans seem to have forgotten this, and the power has become concentrated in an unforgiving machine located in Washington, D.C., where elected officials and unelected bureaucrats rule with an iron fist.
Americans used to understand that the United States was a beacon of hope, a shining city upon a hill that all other nations should aspire to emulate. But how many still appreciate this? And worse yet, how many of our elected officials could provide a detailed history of the United States to justify their decisions, let alone going to war? It’s highly unlikely that random Americans on the street could pass a basic U.S. citizen test today.
The ruling class wants us to see Carlson’s interview with Putin as a simple case of Russia being the bad guy and the U.S. being the good guy. However, it’s not that easy when our own people can’t agree on whether the United States is still the “good guy” anymore. This division is a direct result of the left’s relentless attacks on the U.S. education system. Somewhere in the 1990s, U.S. history shifted from celebrating American exceptionalism to focusing on American aggression. And now, in 2024, we are witnessing the rotten fruits of this anti-American sentiment. Kindergarteners are being taught about privilege and victimhood, national monuments are being torn down, and history is being erased.
When Putin remarked on how it took over 500 years for the fall of Rome to be fully recognized and how young the U.S. is to experience a similar decline, he hit the nail on the head. It’s hard to feel patriotic or maintain a sense of community when we are fed lies about our country being built by barbarians.
But let’s not succumb to despair just yet. The light guiding America may seem dim, but it is not extinguished. The United States is superior to Russia in every way possible. There is hope that the same ideals which freed us from the grip of tyrannical England and liberated Europe twice can withstand the oppression of the left. However, it will require attention to detail, the protection of our legacy, and a few good men to bring America back to its rightful glory. We must not lose sight of that.
