Democrats are once again trying to peddle the ludicrous notion that Trump doesn’t have the right to run the Executive Branch as he sees fit. This time, they’re kicking up dust over his authority to manage the National Security Council, which, by definition, serves at the president’s pleasure. The left seems to think the bureaucrats run the show, instead of the president elected by the people. This confusion is nothing short of astounding.
During a recent episode of “Face the Nation,” CBS host Margaret Brennan appeared genuinely befuddled when reality hit her straight from the mouth of former Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates. When attempting to stir the pot about Trump’s supposed distrust of the National Security Council, Gates swiftly dismantled her attempt. The media routinely peddles gossip about a supposedly paranoid Trump yet conveniently forgets why he might have trust issues. With 51 former intelligence officials falsely labeling the Hunter Biden laptop story as Russian disinformation, who could blame him?

In a lesson that should be required viewing for every media pundit and left-wing bureaucrat, Gates reminded everyone that the National Security Council is there to support the president, not the other way around. Anyone working in the White House should align with the president’s vision and policy. This isn’t a startling idea—it’s how it should be for any administration. But when it comes to Trump, the media and Democrats want you to ignore logic and precedence. They’d rather have the faceless blob driving the policy bus.
Gates wasn’t done schooling Brennan either. He pointedly noted that those who oppose Trump’s views don’t belong in the White House. Can it be clearer than that? Trump’s team should be on his team. It’s about loyalty to the elected leader of the United States. Genuine policy debates are welcome, but once a decision is made, it’s time to rally, not rebel.
It’s fascinating to watch the media squirm when given a dose of straight talk. They aren’t accustomed to seeing someone champion Trump’s authority so clearly. Democrats continue to try and upend Trump’s agenda, desperate to impede progress. With leaders like Gates speaking sense, their attempts are getting squashed one by one. Trump is guiding America into a golden era, which is probably why the left is so frantic to derail it. They can’t stand the success. But really, since when did what Democrats want ever align with what’s best for the country?
