Zohran Mamdani, a candidate with socialist dreams of becoming New York City’s mayor, is facing a scandal that raises serious questions about his loyalty to America. His own mother, the acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair, has left no doubt about where her allegiances — and those of her son — lie. She described Mamdani as anything but American, all while benefiting from the freedoms, opportunities, and platforms this great nation provided her family. Isn’t it curious how some folks use America to climb the ladder, only to spit on everything it represents?
What’s troubling here is the alarming attitude of rejection and ingratitude toward America. Nair’s assertion that Mamdani was never American but purely “desi” smacks of contempt for the very nation that offered them refuge and prosperity. It’s a slap in the face to every immigrant who cherishes the chance to call themselves American and who works tirelessly to contribute positively to society. But not Mamdani, apparently. He’s happy to enjoy the perks without embracing the values.

For a candidate running to lead the USA’s biggest city, this scandal paints a problematic picture. If the man seeking office can’t even inspire confidence in his most ardent supporter — his mother — about his American identity, why should New Yorkers trust him with their future? Should a person who doesn’t identify as American be handed the keys to one of the most iconic symbols of American culture and success?
Leftists and globalists might cheer Mamdani’s worldview as enlightened and cosmopolitan, but Americans see it as a red flag. It’s yet another expression of liberal hypocrisy, where the benefits of America are reaped without embracing its ideals or responsibilities. The left loves to bring in candidates who view America with disdain, selling it off piece by piece to global interests under the guise of progressivism. It’s a dangerous game, and every day, Americans are the ones facing the consequences.
So, what do voters want? Do they want leaders who proudly wave the American flag or those who treat it as a doormat while promoting foreign allegiances? The time to choose is now, and it’s a choice between upholding American greatness or allowing it to be taken over by those who refuse to claim it proudly. Is Mamdani’s disdainful allegiance to India the new standard for American leadership? We can only hope not.
