School Caught Fundraising To Pay Illegal Immigrant’s ‘Coyote Fees’

The topic of illegal immigration has been controversial for a long time. Recently, a Rhode Island school was found to be fundraising to pay off “coyote” fees for an illegal immigrant student. A Daily Caller News Foundation reporter spoke on Newsmax Wednesday about the email circulated internally at the school in Providence, Rhode Island. The email from the assistant principal of the school requested staff assistance in generating $2,000 to cover the balance of an unnamed student’s $5,000 debt to a “coyote.”

The Department of Homeland Security describes “coyotes” as smugglers who take advantage of migrants seeking entry into the United States. Parents have expressed concern about the safety of the school due to the presence of a student who was smuggled into the country. The teachers’ union in Providence, Rhode Island, confirmed the email’s authenticity after the school denied that it had been delivered.

According to Fox News, in fiscal year 2022, the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) came across 2.3 million migrants, but an additional 600,000 migrants were not caught by the CBP during that fiscal year. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2023, the CBP reported encounters with 230,000 migrants in October, 233,740 migrants in November, and over 250,000 migrants in December. Nicole Solas, a fellow at the Education Freedom Center, expressed that the email contained some degree of ignorance regarding the situation.

Coyotes are usually associated with criminal groups, including transnational criminal organizations and cartels in Mexico, who are involved in people smuggling for financial gain. Crossing the border requires payment to a coyote, and failure to pay the smuggler fee often leads to individuals being held hostage in the U.S., trafficked, or used for illegal activities. This constitutes a significant threat to national security and is extremely hazardous and concerning.

Law enforcement has remained silent about this issue which should be a law enforcement matter. The issue of illegal immigration is one that has been debated for many years and continues to be a major concern for many people. It is important that law enforcement takes action to ensure that the safety of schools and communities is not compromised.
