Yesterday’s Supreme Court decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard was a massive victory for conservatives and a blow to the left’s favorite form of discrimination, affirmative action. The Court ruled in favor of ending this so-called “approved” discrimination, which is a huge win for equal opportunity and merit-based admissions.

But of course, the left is up in arms about it. They’re attacking what they call the “Extreme MAGA Court,” even though it’s the same court that handed them victories in election law and immigration policy. It seems they only support the Supreme Court when it rules in their favor.
One of the key arguments in the dissenting opinion, written by Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, is the idea that black babies are more likely to survive with black doctors. She cited a study that has been thoroughly debunked, yet she relied on it to make her case. This is a prime example of the left’s emotional-based rhetoric rather than legal and constitutional argumentation.
But the real problem with Justice Jackson’s dissent is that it categorizes people into little stereotypes, something that progressives have always accused conservatives of. They claim to fight against racism but then use race as the sole determining factor in cases like affirmative action. Your race shouldn’t be the only aspect by which you are judged, but the left seems to think otherwise.
The admissions data from Harvard and other Ivy League universities is shocking, to say the least. Asian American students with top percentile scores were being passed over in favor of black students in the 40th or 50th percentile. This is clear discrimination against Asian Americans, yet the left denies it and accuses Asian Americans of being gaslit. It’s incredible how the left can be so blind to their own hypocrisy.
The logic of perpetuating discrimination in order to combat discrimination is mind-boggling. It makes no sense whatsoever. The victims in this situation are the hardworking students who have done nothing wrong except strive for excellence. Their stories have been determined by the racist policies of others, and it’s a sad state of affairs.
Overall, the Supreme Court’s decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard was a win for conservatives and a step towards a more equal and merit-based society. The left can cry foul all they want, but the truth is that affirmative action is discriminatory and should have no place in our educational system. We must continue to fight for equal opportunity and fairness for all.
