In the unfolding saga of deep-state dysfunction, former bureaucrats are now showing their true colors. President Donald Trump, not one to shy away from confrontation, targeted the bloated U.S. Agency for International Development and the State Department early in his second term. It was a bold move against the liberal bastions that had long meddled not only in international affairs but also in America’s internal politics. Now, having been ousted, these would-be puppeteers are scheming to undermine the Trump administration from within. How utterly predictable.
These so-called democracy advocates were supposedly out in the world fighting autocracy. Yet, when faced with losing their taxpayer-funded jobs, they decided to dabble in the very authoritarianism they claim to oppose. They’ve banded together in a cloak-and-dagger fashion, employing tactics befitting a spy thriller. Concealed identities, encrypted communications, and secret meetings seem more suited for a Hollywood script than the civil service. But isn’t this typical of the left? Preaching transparency while plotting in secrecy.

These disgruntled operatives are now holding workshops not to promote legitimate dissent, but to teach federal employees to obstruct their government. They hope to stop Trump by sowing chaos, evoking shades of European strikes from decades ago. There’s no end to their hypocrisy. The left cries about authoritarianism yet resorts to sabotage when democracy doesn’t go their way. These folks aren’t fighting tyranny; they’re sulking over losing a cozy gig.
There’s a curious double standard at play. Imagine the outrage if Trump loyalists acted like this after the 2020 election. The media would be all over it, demanding congressional hearings. Yet, as these deep-state troublemakers undermine American governance, the liberal media stays oddly silent. Why? Maybe because they’re rooting for a different kind of coup—a quiet rebellion by unelected elites.
These antics beg the question: If the deep state isn’t real, why are these bureaucrats so keen on proving it’s alive and kicking? One thing is clear—Trump was right to clean house. As these ousted operatives work tirelessly to hamstring a duly elected administration, it’s time to ask ourselves: are these the democracy champions they claim to be, or just puppeteers wishing to regain control of the strings?
