A recent federal court decision in Boston has once again put the brakes on the Trump administration’s efforts to restore order at the border, blocking the attempt to end a mass parole program that has let more than half a million migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela enter and work in the United States. The Biden-era program, created with the stroke of a pen, allowed these migrants to bypass traditional immigration channels and fly directly into the country if they secured a sponsor. While the left celebrates the judge’s ruling as a victory for compassion, many Americans see it as yet another example of judicial activism undermining both executive authority and the rule of law.
Senator John Kennedy didn’t mince words, calling out the judge for what he sees as an egregious overreach. Kennedy argued that the national injunction issued in this case has no foundation in statutory law, Supreme Court precedent, or even the English common law that underpins our justice system. He and other conservatives have long warned that the proliferation of nationwide injunctions—once a rarity—has become a favorite tool for activist judges to thwart the will of elected leaders, particularly when it comes to enforcing immigration laws. The fact that these sweeping rulings now seem to crop up every time a Republican administration tries to restore order is no coincidence.
This latest judicial intervention is just one act in a larger drama of legal and political gamesmanship. The Biden administration’s open-door policies have fueled a historic border crisis, overwhelming communities and straining resources. Yet, when Trump attempts to use the same executive authority to reverse these policies and secure the border, his efforts are stymied by judges who seem more interested in politics than precedent. It’s a pattern that leaves conservatives wondering whether the courts have become a de facto legislative branch, wielding unchecked power to dictate national policy.
Meanwhile, President Trump continues to push bold solutions to America’s crime and border crises, even floating the idea of deporting violent American criminals to foreign prisons. While critics scoff at the proposal, it’s a reflection of just how desperate many Americans are for real consequences for crime and a return to law and order. Trump’s willingness to think outside the box stands in stark contrast to the hand-wringing and excuses that have become the norm in Washington.
On the international stage, Trump’s tough stance on China is another example of putting America first. Unlike past administrations that allowed China to run roughshod over American workers and businesses, Trump’s tariffs and hard-nosed negotiating tactics are finally forcing Beijing to the table. While critics complain about short-term pain, Trump’s supporters know that standing up to China is long overdue—and that only strong, decisive leadership will secure a fair deal for American families. In a political climate where activist judges and weak-kneed politicians seem determined to undermine American sovereignty, Trump’s unapologetic approach is a breath of fresh air for those who still believe in borders, law, and national pride.
