Sen. John Fetterman dismissed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s criticism of his words about the fiery exchanges in the House last week as “absurd”. The Pennsylvania Democrat had previously apologized to “The Jerry Springer Show” for the chaos witnessed during the hearing, comparing the House to the sensationalistic talk show.
In response to a CNN headline about the confrontation between Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and AOC, which stemmed from a comment by the Georgia Republican about Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s appearance, Fetterman expressed his regret for his earlier comparison of the House to “The Jerry Springer Show”. He also remarked that the chaotic behavior initiated by Representative Greene led him to apologize to the talk show.
What do you think about this exchange between AOC, MTG, and Crockett?
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I don't think you know what you're here for. I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading"
AOC: "How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person"… pic.twitter.com/L4SqFSDgEV

Ocasio-Cortez, in turn, retorted that she stands up to bullies instead of becoming one and raised concerns about the confusion over racism and misogyny being portrayed as a “both sides” issue. Fetterman, when questioned by CNN’s Jake Tapper about the criticism, labeled it “absurd” and explained that he was simply reacting to the chaos incited by Representative Greene.
Fetterman further defended his stance by stating that if the committee members were proud of their actions and video clips from the confrontation, it was their choice. He suggested that it was up to them to decide if such content should be shown to eighth-grade civics students across the country.
