This assertion was built on weak premises and was called into question by members of their own agencies. Some intelligence leaders expressed serious concerns over the lack of credible evidence backing this conclusion. The reality is, rather than thoroughly analyzing the evidence, these leaders were under immense pressure to deliver a narrative that suited the political circumstances – effectively weaponizing intelligence for partisan purposes.
This isn’t just a minor misstep; it’s emblematic of a larger, systemic issue. The FBI and CIA fell victim to a toxic mix of political pressure and self-serving narratives.
