In a twist that could script its comedy, the Biden administration is taking Texas to court over its makeshift fence, claiming it obstructs their ability to nab border crossers. This bizarre tussle landed an emergency plea at the Supreme Court, aiming to reverse a federal appeals court decision stopping the federal government from tampering with sections of razor wire fencing erected by Texas along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The fence, spanning around 110 miles, boasts Texas' craftsmanship with concertina wire on state and private lands near the Rio Grande. Texas asserts it deters illegal border crossings. However, the Biden administration kicked off by suing Texas and won an injunction allowing Border Patrol agents to snip the wire. But alas, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals quashed that victory, declaring the fencing as state property off-limits to federal meddling, except during medical emergencies.
Now, the Biden Homeland Security is bringing the case to the Supreme Court, arguing that the appeals court's decision infringes on the federal government’s immigration jurisdiction. They claim federal law authorizes Border Patrol agents to access private land within 25 miles of the border sans warrant and arrest those breaching immigration laws.
As Texas grapples with a surge of arrivals, the Biden administration's answer to aid officers in nabbing noncitizens is essentially to tell them to chop away the fencing. It’s almost a comedy if it weren’t such a dire situation. Who needs deterrents when a border crisis unfolds, right?
This drama showcases the Biden administration’s immigration strategy akin to a voracious kid eyeing cookies. They insist they'd eat fewer if access were unrestricted, but let’s be real—they'd devour those cookies shamelessly. Similarly, the Biden camp seems keener on suing Texas than tackling the border crisis. It's time for a real border solution—one that fortifies and secures our borders once and for all.
