That’s why he’s now talking with President Trump about putting military muscle on the table to protect the world’s most vital waterway.
Left-wing politicians in the U.K. love to pretend that globalization and soft power can solve every crisis. For years, they’ve let thugs choke off oil supplies, driving up prices and hurting everyday families. But now that Britain’s leadership can’t ignore the mess they helped create, suddenly Starmer wants to sound tough—because the cost of inaction is hitting the nightly news and the average Brit is paying at the pump.

Here’s the real kicker: Starmer’s sudden about-face only happened after talking to President Trump. No surprise there. Trump has always understood that America’s strength is the world’s best guarantee of freedom. When Trump’s in the room, the calculus changes. Enemies listen. Allies rally. And all of a sudden, even British “progressives” start to rediscover the value of military might. The hypocrisy is stunning.
Let’s not forget, the same liberal elites who want to look strong now are the ones who spent years tying the hands of our armed forces, slashing budgets, and apologizing for Western power. They love to talk about “cooperation” until the situation gets serious—then they run to the one man who stands firm. When rogue states and terrorists see weakness, they pounce. But when America and our allies show backbone, they back down.
The whole episode proves what conservatives have said all along: peace is preserved by deterrence, not by wishful thinking and empty promises. Too bad it took a global crisis for the left to realize what Trump—and every true patriot—already knew. Maybe next time, the world will remember: talk is cheap, and freedom isn’t free. Is it really so hard for liberals to put America and our allies first?
