In an episode straight out of Bizarro World, there are calls to unmask ICE agents, the same folks tasked with ensuring our borders aren’t a revolving door for criminals. Now, everyone knows if there’s one thing that’s necessary for ICE agents, it’s their anonymity while on duty. After all, they’re dealing with individuals who might not exactly be vying for citizen of the year. Still, some believe exposing agents’ identities will somehow contribute to the greater good. Predictably, this move has led to a predictable, and frankly ridiculous outcry, placing the safety of these law enforcement officers and their families at risk.
Paul Perez, the President of the National Border Patrol Council, rightfully condemns this dangerous rhetoric. It’s a precarious world where it’s become fashionable to play fast and loose with the security of those protecting us. Turning the spotlight onto ICE agents might seem like a win in some circles, but, in reality, it’s nothing short of absurd. It isn’t surprising that such ideas only encourage those who have no love lost for our immigration enforcers, all while doing nothing to benefit the people law enforcement is sworn to protect.
While detractors like the mayor of Los Angeles bark about the harshness of immigration crackdown efforts, the truth is these agents are doing precisely what they signed up for. Under President Trump’s administration, they’ve been able to tackle illegal immigration head-on, much to the chagrin of open-border enthusiasts. One can’t help but chuckle at the opposition’s lamentations, especially when they’ve been the enablers of unmonitored immigration for the past several years. They spent an entire administration turning a blind eye, and now they’re shocked to see someone actually following through on promises of border security.
The case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a prime example of why a robust immigration policy is non-negotiable. Abrego Garcia’s criminal record reads like a laundry list of offenses one might expect from a Hollywood villain. His ongoing criminal activities have resulted in multiple indictments, and he’s now being held accountable thanks to effective enforcement. It’s downright laughable that any politicians would display sympathy for such an individual, but alas, there are those who put misplaced compassion above national security.
Ultimately, increasing border security isn’t just a pipe dream; it’s a necessity. The numbers don’t lie, with apprehensions and criminal deportations sending clear signals that the current approach is working. The only shocker here is realizing that some folks still struggle with accepting a working system simply because it came with a change in presidency. So while certain circles drown in their Trump Derangement Syndrome, ICE and its agents are busy ensuring that America remains a safe haven not for criminals, but for its law-abiding citizens.
