In a world where news cycles can change faster than a cat on a hot tin roof, President Trump once again makes headlines with his approach to handling international tensions. Over at the House Republican Conference’s member retreat in Doral, Florida, he’s dropped quite the bombshell, figuratively speaking, about the status of Operation Epic Fury. He’s confident, as ever, sharing that Iran’s military capabilities are rapidly dwindling. With their navy, communications, and air force almost nothing to write home about, the U.S. is allegedly ahead of schedule in this operation.
The president, with his usual flair, assured that a new supreme leader is in mind once the dust settles, though who that might be remains as mysterious as the recipe for Kentucky Fried Chicken. Iran, on the other hand, appears to have opted for a familial succession by selecting the son of their slain former supreme leader. A strategy that sounds eerily like trying to patch a sinking ship with a Band-Aid. In Trump’s words, the only option left for the terror regime is to cry uncle, although it seems they might need a guidebook on how to say it convincingly.
The critics are out in full force, sharpening their pens and tongues against what they label as reckless militarism. Of course, to them, this is just another episode of the president’s alleged hunger for power. But in a historical context, isn’t it always entertaining to see the pot calling the kettle black, especially when it involves parties known to flip-flop like a fish out of water on their stance depending on who’s in charge?
Economically speaking, Iran isn’t going down without trying to play a few more cards. They’ve been fiddling around with Arab oil infrastructure, causing congestion that even the worst New York City traffic would envy. However, Trump seems to be navigating this economic chess game with promises that oil won’t skyrocket to crisis levels, keeping the market jittery yet miraculously still on its feet. A plot twist worthy of any Wall Street drama, wouldn’t you agree?
And then there’s the matter of women’s rights, something that seems to have flown under the radar of many self-proclaimed advocates. The decimation of a tyrannical regime that’s infamous for executing women for sartorial decisions and outspokenness surprisingly hasn’t elicited joyous outbursts from certain feminist quarters. Perhaps it’s hard to offer a standing ovation when tangled in political correctness and the fear of acknowledging achievements from the ‘wrong’ side of the aisle. Yet, here stands Trump, a bull in a china shop, unwavering and undeterred, steering his course with characteristic gusto. Perhaps it’s time to question—shouldn’t principled results speak louder than party lines?
