Things Are About to Get Even Better for Conservatives

Thanksgiving is upon us, a time for turkey, family gatherings, and, inevitably, the obligatory debates about who gets to carve the bird. But as Americans express gratitude for the little things—like the opportunity to shove a few extra helpings of stuffing down their throats—there’s a growing sense of jubilation over something potentially far more significant: the slow unraveling of leftist corporate wokeness. And yes, folks, you can almost hear the sounds of conservative victory echoing across the land, like a triumphant soundtrack reminiscent of that epic moment in every sports movie when the underdogs finally rally.

Take Walmart, for instance. The mega-retailer has decided that the “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) programs were more toxic than a fruitcake left out since last Thanksgiving. The New York Times has reported that under pressure from conservative activists, Walmart is pulling back on initiatives that were more focused on “favors for the non-white” than building a truly inclusive environment. Instead of scrambling to check off race boxes, they’re opting to end racial equity training—otherwise known as “how to subtly undermine your white colleagues” training. Well, that’s a win for traditionalists, and the rest of us are just here raising a glass (or two) of eggnog in celebration.

The trend doesn’t stop with Walmart. Big names like Ford and John Deere are taking a long, hard look at their DEI policies and saying, “You know what? We could probably go back to running our businesses instead of playing social justice bingo.” You have to admire the tenacity of conservatives who are finally mobilizing the meme arsenal and social media shaming tactics that the left has used effectively for years. Who knew that a little backlash and some funny cat memes could yield such monumental corporate changes? It’s like watching a game of corporate whack-a-mole, and the moles are finally popping back up, looking a bit bruised and confused.

Toyota has also hit the brakes on its DEI initiatives, choosing instead to steer toward something far more logical (but less trendy): STEM education. This seems a much better approach, considering that hiring based on qualifications—rather than the color of one’s skin—could lead to actual progress for businesses. Who would’ve thought that a focus on education and skills would trump a focus on feel-good platitudes and virtue signaling? It’s as if the corporate world is waking up from a long, wokeness-induced stupor—the kind that feels like that one bite of pumpkin pie that doesn’t quite sit right in your stomach.

Of course, the woke activists aren’t going down without a fight. The Human Rights Campaign, with its ever-growing list of grievances that puts Santa Claus’ naughty list to shame, is still out there harassing companies that dare to stray from the “inclusive” narrative. Just imagine poor HR departments getting hit with surveys asking why there aren’t enough LGBTQ+ characters featured in their last corporate retreat. I’m sorry, did we hire a marketing team or audition a new cast for the next progressive Hallmark special? What a delightful conundrum these companies are facing: choosing between catering to an ever-narrowing sliver of the population and simply running an effective business!

As conservatives continue to report victories in this culture war, one can’t help but be tantalized by the thought of a DEI-free corporate landscape. As companies like Lowe’s and Starbucks have run into lawsuits and public backlash, it seems that the tide is turning, and “corporate wokeism” may just be starting to fade. So this Thanksgiving, as families gather around the table to discuss politics and pumpkin pie flavors, let’s take a moment to appreciate the small yet significant victories in the culture war. After all, if there’s one thing to be genuinely thankful for this year, it’s that sanity may be making a comeback—along with a healthy portion of good old-fashioned common sense.
