After President Joe Biden made Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” list three years in a row, the publication did not include him or former President Donald Trump in this year’s edition. This led to a lot of head scratching in the conservative corners.
Trump and Biden’s exclusion from the list marks the first time since at least 2000 that both presidential candidates were not included on the Time 100 list in an election year. That’s right, folks, you heard it here first – the omission of these two big dogs boggles the mind. It’s as if Time forgot they were even contenders!
In the past, we saw the likes of Hillary Clinton, Trump, Mitt Romney, Barack Obama, and other political figures on this prestigious list. But this year, Time seems to have thrown all political tradition out the window, leaving voters scratching their heads and wondering what the selection criteria could possibly be. Maybe they were too busy sipping lattes in their New York offices to notice the impact these two have had on the world stage.
The move reinforces a feeling of frustration among voters that the 2024 election features two candidates who are unusually unpopular. It’s a slap in the face to the millions of Americans who cast their votes for these candidates. It’s almost like Time is saying, “Sorry, your choices don’t really matter to us.”
Not only did Trump and Biden get shafted, but Vice President Kamala Harris also did not make the cut this year, despite being featured multiple times in the past. Instead, Time chose to highlight Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of former Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, and Shawn Fain, the United Automobile Workers’ president. Because, you know, those individuals obviously have a bigger impact on world affairs than the leaders of the free world.
In a further snub to the leaders of the free world, Time included entries for Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) and Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), as well as other world leaders, but left off the American heavy hitters. It’s almost comical at this point how Time seems to be thumbing their nose at the American political elite.
