A devastating tragedy struck Dallas this week after a sniper opened fire at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, leaving hardworking Americans reeling. At least two detainees were killed and another wounded, with the shooter dying of a self-inflicted gunshot as officers closed in. These attacks aren’t isolated—they represent a disturbing surge of hostility toward the very men and women who safeguard our borders and enforce the laws that keep American communities safe.
This latest act of violence is a stark reminder of the dangers that ICE personnel and innocent detainees face each day. Authorities say the assailant fired multiple rounds from a neighboring rooftop, deliberately targeting the secured entry area of the ICE facility. Fortunately, none of the ICE officers on duty were injured—a miracle given the intent and deadly accuracy with which these attacks are now being carried out. These officers stand as our last barrier protecting America’s sovereignty, yet they’re increasingly portrayed as villains by those who would rather see our borders erased.

The motive for this heinous act is still unknown, but the environment that fosters such violence is no mystery. Voices from the left have spent years demonizing ICE, calling for its abolition, and undermining law enforcement at every turn. When elected officials and activists push sanctuary policies that prioritize the feelings of illegal immigrants over the security of our citizens, they encourage chaos and embolden those who believe lawlessness should be rewarded. Their silence in the aftermath of attacks like this speaks volumes—quick to demand gun control, slow to condemn violence against those enforcing our laws.
America must recognize what’s at stake: the safety of our neighborhoods, the rule of law, and the lives of determined men and women willing to put themselves at risk for the greater good. Our ICE agents are not the enemy; they are guardians standing between order and chaos. Lawmakers owe it to every American to unequivocally support these patriots and end the shameful rhetoric that fuels tragedy after tragedy.
