Judge Mark Scarsi, a Donald Trump appointee, granted President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden a postponement of his tax trial in California. The trial has been postponed for September 5 from its initial June 20 date. Nine charges against Biden stem from claims that he failed to file taxes, avoided paying taxes, and filed false returns over a four-year period starting in 2016. This postponement follows efforts by Biden's legal team to request dismissals and delays in a Delaware criminal weapons case as well as in California.

In the Delaware case, Judge Maryellen Noreika—another Trump appointee—rejected Biden's request to postpone the trial, which was set to start on June 3. Abbe Lowell, the lawyer for Biden, had asked for a postponement until at least July, pointing to a potential impact on the case from a future Supreme Court decision. Furthermore, Lowell struggled to find qualified witnesses for the defense. Furthermore, in both cases, Biden had previously asked for the judges to dismiss his charges; nevertheless, they had been turned down.
Additionally, Biden asked the Delaware appellate court to reexamine one of his appeals after it was determined that his petitions to the appellate courts were premature in both instances. There appears to be a pattern of evasion and avoidance of accountability given Biden's and his legal team's continued attempts to postpone and drop the charges in his tax trial and criminal gun case.
It's possible that Biden's legal team is deliberately delaying his tax trial in order to purchase more time and shield themselves from the fallout from his purported activities. It's interesting that Hunter Biden's legal issues persist and cloud the Biden administration, even though he is the president's son. As these trials go, their verdict might have wider ramifications, especially if it concerns someone who has close relations to the president.
