While Biden touted a drop in border encounters attributed to his administration, he conveniently skipped over the harsh realities many American families face due to failed immigration policies. This isn’t just a simple political back-and-forth; it’s a heartbreaking matter of families affected by crime that can be traced back to the current border chaos.
One of the most poignant examples is the tragic case of Rachel Morin, a Maryland mother of five, who was raped and murdered by illegal immigrants on a hiking trail last year. The attorney for Rachel’s family insists that her death was preventable. They argue that had the administration enforced existing border laws diligently, Rachel would still be alive today. Instead of addressing the pain and suffering felt by families like the Morins, Biden chose to flippantly blame Trump, claiming the previous administration was responsible for the border crisis. As many see it, this is like playing a game of Red Rover, but instead of sending over friends, it’s criminals being welcomed with open arms.
Karoline Leavitt, the National Press Secretary for the 2024 campaign, had strong words about Biden’s claims. She pointed out that the Democrats seem to be living in an “alternative reality” where public safety and immigration policies are sound. It’s hard not to agree as their track record tells a different story. During the previous administration, the country experienced record-low rates of illegal crossings. While families suffer, Biden and Harris seem to think that pretending these issues don’t exist will make them go away. But the American public is smarter than that. Millions of people are looking back fondly on the days of lower inflation, secure borders, and overall safety.

So as Trump heads to Detroit to host an event focused on crime and safety, Biden might want to reconsider his strategy of finger-pointing. Instead of dodging accountability for his and Harris’s actions, maybe he should focus on actual solutions for the American people.
