In an exciting turn of events, the Republican Party has taken control of the governor’s mansion in Louisiana. State Attorney General Jeff Landry astonishingly surpassed the required 50 percent threshold in Louisiana’s primary election, eliminating the need for a run-off between the top two candidates. It was a crowded race, with a whopping 16 candidates vying for the position. While Landry was the preferred Republican candidate, he wasn’t expected to secure over 50 percent of the vote.
