As Donald Trump thinks about choosing someone to potentially run with him in the next election, a surprising new candidate has come into the mix, according to a report. The report says that people close to Trump believe Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas could be a good choice. They say Trump likes Cotton’s ability to talk about policy and how he stays consistent.

Throughout the campaign, Trump has mentioned different names as possible running mates, but he hasn’t given away much about his decision-making process. He said no to Nikki Haley, a former governor of South Carolina, for now, but he might consider her for a job in his cabinet since she supported his campaign last week.
Other reports have also talked about Republicans who might join the race, like Doug Burgum from North Dakota, Vivek Ramaswamy, Tim Scott from South Carolina, and Chris Christie from Florida. Former lawmakers Tulsi Gabbard and Lee Zeldin, as well as Elise Stefanik from New York, are also being considered.
Trump has said that he’ll announce his pick around the Republican National Convention in July. Cotton, like Trump, hasn’t given away too much when asked about being vice president. He said to Fox News that only Trump really knows who he’s thinking about for the job.
Repairing the damage that Joe Biden has done is a big focus for Cotton. Winning the election in November and giving Trump another shot at being president is important to him. It’s clear that Cotton cares about the country and wants to help make things better. This shows he could be a strong ally to Trump.
