Trump Issues Ultimatum: Disarm Hamas or Face U.S. Action

President Trump made it unmistakably clear this week: Hamas will disarm — and if it refuses, the United States will step in to make it happen. That blunt ultimatum came after the president pushed a ceasefire and transition deal meant to end years of bloodshed in Gaza, and he left no doubt he regards disarmament as non-negotiable.

When pressed by reporters, Mr. Trump doubled down with the kind of language Americans expect from a leader who refuses to kneel to terror, saying “they know I’m not playing games” and warning that disarmament could come “quickly and perhaps violently” if necessary. Those are not empty boasts from a president who just brokered the release of hostages; they are a promise of action to protect innocent lives and regional stability.

The deal Trump helped push forward included the return of surviving hostages and a phased plan for Gaza’s transition, with disarmament and the neutralization of terror infrastructure written into his 20-point framework. That framework calls for independent monitoring, weapons buybacks, and an international stabilization effort — sensible, practical steps to ensure terrorists cannot rebuild while civilians rebuild their lives.

Yet while the ink was still drying, reports showed Hamas moving to reassert control in parts of Gaza and carrying out brutal purges of rival gangs and alleged collaborators, behavior that underscores exactly why firm disarmament is necessary. U.S. military commanders have publicly urged Hamas to stop targeting Gaza civilians and to disarm without delay, a sign that Washington will not turn a blind eye to lawlessness masquerading as governance.

Make no mistake: this is the kind of decisive leadership conservatives have been calling for. For too long, appeasement and wishful thinking allowed terrorist groups to metastasize; President Trump’s approach is the opposite — direct pressure, clear objectives, and a willingness to use force when diplomacy fails.

Predictably, the left and the legacy media are wringing their hands and writhing over the prospect of American strength being used to secure peace. They would rather lecture and coddle than defend our allies or our own security, but the American people know that strength backed by principle is the surest path to lasting peace.

Congress and patriotic Americans should rally behind this moment and demand that any move to disarm Hamas be followed with teeth — real oversight, proper funding for stabilization, and unwavering support for Israel. If our leaders will stand strong and act with conviction, we can finally turn a page on an era of chaos and restore hope for the people of Israel, Gaza, and the wider region.
