Apparently, the Department of Homeland Security is now investigating an alleged death threat against former President Donald Trump. To make matters more interesting, this issue stems from an innocuous-looking Instagram post. However, for anyone paying attention, the numbers “8647” practically scream a sinister message to those in the know. It’s a curious case that has many scratching their heads—and perhaps laughing a little too.
The mystery began when an Instagram post featured a coded message that appeared to hint at “86-ing” the 47th President, a term that even elementary school students can recognize. For those less familiar, “86” is known in restaurant lingo as getting rid of something or someone. Given the context, it’s not a stretch to see why this post raised some red flags. James Comey, who was interviewed by the Secret Service for a good seventy minutes, would like everyone to believe the numbers meant nothing more than some harmless fun. But let’s be real. Does anyone truly buy that story?
Even the former President has weighed in, dismissing the idea that Comey didn’t understand the implications of the post. After all, Comey has quite the track record when it comes to jabs at Trump. It’s almost like he’s in the running for the most creative ways to throw shade at a former U.S. president. One would think that a former FBI Director, someone who should have expertise in security matters, would steer clear of anything that could even remotely be interpreted as incendiary or threatening. Then again, the irony might be back here, as it’s hard to imagine someone in his prior position being so blissfully unaware.

Just last year, he dreamed up an elaborate scenario where the former president could spend time in prison under the watchful eyes of who knows how many security cameras. Imagining everything from meals to exercise, he crafted a vivid picture of what could be the ultimate humbling experience. It’s both humorous and baffling to some that such visions are concocted by someone who once held one of the nation’s top law enforcement positions. If nothing else, Comey seems to have missed his calling as a writer of political fiction.
While some may chuckle at the whole situation, the reality of violent rhetoric from any end of the political spectrum is not something to be taken lightly. History has shown that such words can lead to real-world consequences, and in today’s charged climate, stoking the fires of division is dangerous indeed. The need for responsible dialogue is more pressing than ever. The question remains whether this incident will lead to an increased awareness of the weight words can carry, or if it will just be another episode added to the already extensive chronicles of political antics.
