Yet, far too often, progressive local policies prioritize “rehabilitation” over accountability, sending a message that consequences for criminal behavior are little more than an afterthought.
This pattern of leniency does nothing but embolden repeat offenders, who quickly learn that the system is all bark and no bite. Predictably, the family court apparatus frequently lets young criminals off the hook, passing them through endless cycles of supposed rehabilitation while communities bear the brunt of unchecked violence. The result? Heartbreaking losses like this, where talented young people with bright futures are murdered by offenders who know there’s little to fear from authorities unwilling to draw hard lines.

The battle remains uphill, however, with local politicians all too eager to signal compassion for perpetrators while ignoring the grief of victims and their families. The scales of justice are hopelessly skewed when society bends over backward for those who cause harm instead of those who suffer from it.
