Since Biden has taken the helm, more than 10 million illegal aliens have crossed into the U.S., many avoiding proper asylum procedures and instead opting to enter through this open invitation. Meanwhile, the current administration has favored a catch-and-release approach that basically screams “Welcome!” to those looking to enter the U.S. unlawfully.
In Trump’s eyes, Canada and Mexico have not just the power but also the obligation to address the illegal immigration crisis. He demands action—swift and effective measures to stop this “invasion” and its accompanying tide of drugs, especially deadly fentanyl. The tariffs are not merely punitive; they serve to thrust the onus back onto these countries, forcing them to take their fair share of responsibility in safeguarding U.S. borders.

Trump has set his sights on China, planning to impose an additional 10 percent tariff on goods from the country, all while highlighting the ongoing drug crisis. He’s had numerous discussions with Chinese officials about the influx of drugs into the U.S., but little progress has been made. The tariffs serve as both a warning and a declaration: the U.S. will not sit idly by while its borders are treated like a revolving door for criminal activity and drug trafficking. It’s time for these countries to step up or face the consequences.
