In a five-minute video shared on Twitter and Truth Social, former President Donald Trump expressed his opposition to President Joe Biden’s pro-China stance and affirmed that he would not tolerate it. Trump pledged that he would prohibit all “critical” imports from China within four years if he was elected. Additionally, he criticized Biden’s pro-China agenda and advocated for an extensive pro-American transformation of the country’s tax and trade policies, which would shift the focus from punishing domestic producers to rewarding those who outsource.

Former President Donald Trump’s remarks align with those made by entrepreneur and potential 2024 Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who recently stated that the United States should “declare independence” from China. Trump additionally recommended the elimination of China’s most-favored-nation trade status and the implementation of a four-year strategy to gradually terminate all crucial imports from China, such as electronics, steel, and pharmaceuticals.
The former president also proposed new rules to stop U.S. companies from pouring investments into China and to stop China from buying up America. He also suggested eliminating federal contracts for any company that outsources to China. This is a move that several states are already considering, as they look to prohibit land purchases by certain individuals and companies with ties to China.
It is clear that the Biden administration is pushing an agenda that will only benefit China and hurt the American people. President Trump was right to call out this dangerous agenda and propose solutions that will protect American jobs and reward domestic production. We need to move away from Biden’s pro-China policies and embrace the sweeping pro-American overhaul of our tax and trade policy that Trump is proposing. It is time for us to declare our independence from China and take back control of our own economy.
