Trump Welcomes Project 2025 Authors Into Administration Despite Criticism

Efforts to shake off Project 2025 during the presidential campaign seem to have fizzled for President-elect Trump, who is now inviting some of its contributors into his administration. In what might be considered an impressive backflip, Trump is embracing what some on the Left had lambasted as the “dystopian handbook” for his potential second term. The very Project 2025 book, Mandate for Leadership – the Conservative Promise, which outlined plans for government reshaping, is now the basis for hiring talent within the Trump team.

Irony runs rampant, especially with the appointment of Tom Homan as Trump’s so-called “border czar”—a contributor to the controversial tome. Then there’s Brendan Carr, the new head of the Federal Communications Commission, who diligently penned a section that thought of four priorities for Big Tech oversight including calls to ban TikTok due to its alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party. This creates an interesting dynamic, as Trump allegedly disagrees with banning the app while simultaneously enlisting those who want to. Who doesn’t love a good contradiction in politics?

Russ Vought’s appointment as head of the Office of Management and Budget also stands out. Unlike general hires, Vought has been labeled as a major player in Project 2025, having crafted a chapter articulating the need for the President to reclaim authority from a bureaucracy that seems to run rampant in Washington. This perspective evidently puts the bureaucratic establishment on notice, as he makes the case that power resides not in the endless maze of agencies, but squarely with the elected leader—a refreshing notion for anyone tired of red tape.

However, not all members of this illustrious Project 2025 team are enjoying the spoils of victory. There’s a whole group of contributors left out in the cold for their association with a plan that has apparently become a political hot potato. Among them is Roger Severino, who was reportedly on the short list for the Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services but was nixed from consideration due to his Project 2025 pedigree. It seems like the Trump team is caught in a game of political musical chairs, where some are left standing while others are gladly seated in the administration.

The Democratic National Committee has hopped on the bandwagon, hoping to drive a wedge between Trump and his Project 2025 links. They are painting an apocalyptic picture of a Trump administration, claiming he’s trading integrity for the very influence he once disavowed. Yet, for all their moaning, it does show how much traction the project gained amongst those who truly understand what a second Trump term could bring. As the old saying goes, if the Left is mad, you probably did something right.

As various players from this strategic initiative enter cabinet positions, a curious conundrum arises: will Trump continue to dance around his past associations or embrace them as he takes on the challenges of his return to the White House? It’s a scenario to keep an eye on and a potentially amusing ride for those watching from the sidelines. One thing’s for sure, the political drama—and the comedic irony of it all—is far from over.
