America lost two patriots this week, and their story shows us what real courage looks like. Bill Montgomery, a successful businessman who died in 2020, discovered Charlie Kirk when the future conservative leader was just 18 years old. Montgomery made a decision that day that would change the course of American politics forever. He told Kirk to skip college and fight for our country instead.
The year was 2012, and Montgomery was watching boring speakers put 400 high school kids to sleep at a political event. Then Charlie Kirk stepped up to the microphone and did something incredible. In just 20 seconds, he woke up every single teenager in that room and had them hanging on his every word. Montgomery knew he was witnessing something special that could save America.
Montgomery walked up to Kirk after the speech and said the words that launched a movement. He told the 18-year-old to forget about college and start fighting the liberal takeover of our schools. Kirk was already accepted to Baylor University with his whole future planned out. But Montgomery saw a gift that was bigger than any college degree.
For two and a half years, Montgomery gave up his comfortable retirement to build Turning Point USA with Kirk. They started in a garage in Illinois with no money and no help from the establishment. Montgomery had to rent the cars and book the hotels because Kirk was too young to do it himself. This older businessman and teenage patriot traveled across America spreading the truth about conservative values.
They proved that real movements come from the people, not from Washington politicians or big corporations. While liberal professors were brainwashing kids in college classrooms, Montgomery and Kirk were reaching millions of students with the message of freedom. They built something that touched 3,500 campuses in all 50 states without asking for permission from anyone.
Montgomery believed until his dying day that young Americans were hungry for the truth about what makes our country great. He saw past the lies that the media tells about our generation being lost to socialism. When he died of COVID in 2020, he had already watched his protege become one of the most powerful conservative voices in America.
Now Charlie Kirk is gone too, gunned down while doing what he did best at Utah Valley University just two days ago. The deep state and radical left have silenced another patriot who dared to speak truth to power on college campuses. They killed him because they feared the message he carried to young Americans about freedom and conservative values.
But movements built on truth do not die when evil people murder their leaders. Every young conservative who stands up in a classroom, every student who refuses to bow to woke ideology, every American who chooses patriotism over political correctness carries on what Montgomery and Kirk started. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten, and their mission will not fail.
