Walz Exaggerates Military Record Harris Campaign Faces Tough Questions

The Harris campaign has seen better days, and the saga surrounding Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is a trainwreck that just keeps rolling. In light of recent revelations, Walz has admitted—albeit in a roundabout way—that he seriously exaggerated his military experience, specifically regarding his time “in war.” What’s more entertaining is how the campaign spun this admission, opting for the charming label of “misspoke” rather than the more apt term of “lie.”

Reports are swirling that after a video surfaced showing Walz boasting about his military bravado, his campaign quickly scrambled to downplay his questionable claims about handling “weapons of war.” Apparently, it’s easier to say “misspoke” than to confront the ugly truth that Walz may have committed what many are calling stolen valor. His military tenure included 24 years of service, but it’s noteworthy that he was never deployed to a combat zone. So, while he’s racking up time in uniform, his actual experience with bullets instead of bureaucratic paperwork raises an eyebrow.

In a classic move from the Democratic playbook, the Harris camp attempted to spin Walz’s embellishments as part of a larger discussion on gun control, subtly indicating that only trained military personnel should wield the ‘deadly weapons’ he bravely carried—allegedly—in some unnamed capacity. Perhaps the irony is lost on them, but framing this as the American way? That’s rich. Meanwhile, every veteran watching has to be shaking their heads at this transparent tactic.

Senator J.D. Vance, a Marine veteran, didn’t hold back in calling out Walz for his questionable claims. He emphasized the importance of honesty when discussing military service and how Walz allegedly “dropped out” when called upon to serve. Vance’s remarks point out how crucial it is not to misrepresent one’s record. The comment sections on conservative websites across the nation would certainly echo similar sentiments, as more veterans express their disillusionment with those who opportunistically play the military card.

On the other hand, the Trump campaign has jumped at the opportunity to press Walz, questioning why he won’t just man up and address his own fabrications directly. Instead, he relegated the task to a spokesperson—always a sign that the “big boss” knows he’s in deep trouble. The fallout from this incident raises the pressing question: What are the odds that Walz even makes it through the upcoming Democratic National Convention without a major scandal popping up to overshadow his campaign?

The assessment is clear: if Walz thinks he can muddle through this with the help of creative language and damage control, he might want to reconsider. The optics of ghosting on a military obligation combined with manipulation of one’s service history is not a winning strategy—unless, of course, one is trying to win the title of “Most Untrustworthy Politician.”
