The British thought they could keep America under their thumb. They were dead wrong. American patriots and their French allies showed them what happens when you mess with freedom.
Cornwallis led the British troops into Virginia thinking he was safe. He set up camp at Yorktown near the coast waiting for help. But the Royal Navy never came to save them.
George Washington and the Continental Army marched hundreds of miles to surround the British. French ships blocked any escape by sea. The British were trapped like rats in a cage.
For weeks, American and French forces bombarded the British positions. The redcoats took heavy losses and ran low on supplies. Their mighty empire was getting a taste of its own medicine.
On October 19, 1781, Cornwallis had no choice but to surrender. His broken army marched out with heads hanging low. The once-proud British troops gave up their weapons in disgrace.
This wasn’t just luck. Providence clearly favored the righteous cause of liberty. Our brave founders trusted God while fighting tyranny. Divine justice handed the arrogant British a crushing defeat.
Yorktown ended the Revolution and birthed the greatest nation on earth. America proved that determined patriots can topple any oppressor. Freedom won because our fighters refused to back down.
Remember this victory when anyone questions American strength. We beat the world’s superpower with grit and principle. That’s the unstoppable spirit of real Americans.
