The White House is pushing back hard against what they call “media lies” about President Trump’s new tariffs. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt says Americans should ignore the “fear” being spread by critics. She insists these tariffs will create jobs, boost wages, and spark an “economic boom” for working families.
Leavitt claims the tariffs are about fairness. She argues foreign countries have taken advantage of America for decades, and it’s time to fight back. “The president is putting American workers first,” she says. Leavitt points to plans for tax cuts, cheaper energy, and fewer regulations to offset any short-term costs.
Critics warn the tariffs will raise prices on everyday items like clothes, food, and cars. A recent Yale study found families could lose thousands in purchasing power. Farmers like Wendy Brugh say the tariffs feel like “salt in the wound” after years of struggling. Leavitt dismisses these concerns, saying Trump “has their backs” and the pain will be temporary.
The stock market plunged after the tariffs were announced, and companies like Stellantis announced layoffs. Leavitt calls this a minor bump on the road to victory. Leavitt accuses the media of siding with global elites over hardworking Americans. The administration claims tariffs will force companies to bring manufacturing home, reviving dead factory towns.
Some Republicans, like Senator Thom Tillis, worry the tariffs hurt farmers and small businesses. Leavitt brushes this off, saying “weak leaders” lack Trump’s courage. While experts warn of higher inflation, Leavitt says Trump’s energy policies will slash costs. She points to falling gas prices as proof. “The media won’t tell you this, but inflation is cooling,” she claims. The administration says combining tariffs with deregulation creates a “perfect recipe” for prosperity.
