A recent poll by Harvard Caps Harris has given Republican supporters something to be excited about as it shows that Former President Donald Trump will easily beat President Joe Biden in a hypothetical 2024 matchup. The poll surveyed 2,905 registered voters between March 22 to March 23 and asked Republican participants who they would vote for if the Republican presidential primary for the 2024 election was held today; of all options presented, Trump received the most votes at 50%. As usual, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was the second choice with 24%, while former Vice President Mike Pence got 7% of the vote.

These poll results are not surprising considering several other 2024 Republican Presidential primary polls show Trump in the lead with a large margin, and DeSantis is not really that close. These figures further solidify the fact that Trump tends to have a big lead in the Republican field, with DeSantis being his closest rival.

On the other hand, Biden has a staggering 30 percentage point advantage over the Democrats’ number two candidate. Biden obtained 41% of the vote, while second-place Vice President Kamala Harris got 11%, while U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) followed closely behind in third place with 7% of the vote.
According to the pollster, since Biden is leading the Democrats, and Trump is leading the Republicans, 2024 is shaping to feature a rematch between the two. The pollster also asked participants whom they would vote for in that matchup, and Trump came out on top by 4 percentage points, 45% to 41%.
What is noteworthy from this particular poll is that Trump would be expected to beat Harris, the Democrats’ number two candidate, by 10 percentage points, while DeSantis would be expected to emerge over Biden by three percentage points.
The latest trend shows that recent polls — both the 2024 Republican presidential primary polls and the 2024 general election polls — have been leaning towards Trump’s favor. According to Real Clear Politics poll aggregator, Trump is leading DeSantis by an average of 31 percentage points and leading Biden by an average of 1.3 percentage points.
Although DeSantis and Biden have not officially announced their 2024 campaigns, polls like these may be discouraging, considering what they reveal about their opponent’s popularity. The pollster’s findings reveal that things are not looking good for the Democrats come 2024.
