Of course, Jolie conveniently failed to mention neighboring countries like Egypt, who have refused to take in Palestinian refugees. It’s disappointing to see celebrities like Jolie, who lack a deep understanding of the complexities of the Middle East, make simplistic and one-sided statements.
Jolie further emphasized her concern for people displaced by violence in any context, and specifically highlighted the dire conditions faced by the 2 million people living in the Gaza Strip, half of whom are children. While it is important to address humanitarian needs, it is also crucial to recognize the broader security concerns faced by Israel, who has been subjected to countless terrorist attacks.
