The Biden administration is gearing up for a fight over the First Amendment. Yes, you heard that right. They are actually challenging a federal court ruling that found collusion between social media companies and the government to censor speech. It’s like they’re not even trying to hide their authoritarian tendencies anymore.

The ruling in question comes from Louisiana Judge Terry A. Doughty, a Donald Trump appointee who issued a scathing 155-page injunction in response to a lawsuit by the attorneys general of Louisiana and Missouri. The lawsuit alleged that the White House had coerced tech companies into suppressing free speech during the COVID pandemic, with a particular focus on conservative speech. And guess what? The judge agreed!

But leave it to the Biden administration to try and twist the narrative. They claim that they were just taking “necessary and responsible actions to protect public health, safety, and security.” Yeah, right. We all know that’s just code for silencing anyone who dares to question their authority.
What’s truly astonishing is the administration’s attempt to absolve themselves of any responsibility. They argue that social media companies should determine what qualifies as misinformation and how to combat it. In other words, they want to outsource censorship to Big Tech. It’s a clear attempt to suppress free speech while pretending to protect it. Classic liberal hypocrisy.
The ruling specifically prohibits federal officials, including members of Biden’s Cabinet, from engaging in meetings aimed at suppressing speech with social media companies. It’s a victory for free speech, but don’t expect the Biden administration to go down without a fight. They’re already planning to ask the court to put the judge’s order on hold during the appeal process. Because, you know, why respect the Constitution when you can just keep pushing your own agenda?
This case could quickly reach the Supreme Court, and it’s a fight that conservatives should be prepared for. The left will stop at nothing to silence their opponents and maintain control over the narrative. But we must not let them succeed. Free speech is one of the cornerstones of our democracy, and it must be protected at all costs. So, let’s hope that the courts see through the Biden administration’s attempts to undermine the First Amendment and uphold the fundamental rights of the American people.
