President Joe Biden, in a shocking turn of events, has finally admitted that the Iran-backed Houthis are indeed “terrorists.” This confession comes after Biden earlier revoked former President Donald Trump’s classification of the group as terrorists. It seems like Biden is starting to come to his senses, albeit a bit late.
Biden Admits Houthis Are ‘Terrorists’ After Reversing Trump’s Foreign Terrorist Organization Designation https://t.co/w4QcWKfTYt

Back in February 2021, Biden made the decision to reverse Trump’s designation of the Houthis as terrorists. This move allowed them to regain access to the international banking system, essentially giving them a green light to receive funding from Iran and engage in business with our allies. Not exactly the kind of behavior we want to encourage, especially when they have been attacking U.S. military and international commercial warships in the Red Sea.
Former Trump Pentagon chief of staff Kash Patel hit the nail on the head when he explained why designating the Houthis as terrorists was so important. By cutting off their funding and treating them as the terrorists they are, we have a better chance at targeting their leadership and preventing further attacks in Saudi Arabia. But with Biden’s decision to remove that designation, we’re essentially giving them a free pass to continue wreaking havoc.
Luckily, Biden did order strikes against Houthi targets last week, aiming to weaken their ability to carry out attacks. However, he seems hesitant to commit to further action if the attacks don’t stop. And when confronted about designating the Houthis as terrorists again, Biden dismisses it as “irrelevant.” Well, Mr. President, it may be “irrelevant” to you, but it certainly matters to the safety and security of our nation.
It’s about time Biden started acknowledging the truth about the Houthis. However, his lack of decisive action and refusal to reinstate their terrorist designation leaves a lot to be desired. Let’s hope he wakes up to the threat they pose and takes the necessary steps to protect our interests and allies.
