In a recent survey, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump were ranked amongst their predecessors, with Biden placing 14th and Trump coming in last, at 45th. But let’s be real, do we really need to be ranking these guys so soon? They’ve barely been out of office! Plus, Trump could still make a comeback and serve another term, so this is all a bit premature, don’t you think?
But here’s the real kicker – when Democrats were celebrating Presidents’ Day, they forgot to honor Jimmy Carter! I mean, come on, he may be 99 years old, but he’s still kicking! And speaking of Carter, remember when Biden should actually be thankful for him? Yeah, ’cause when it comes to approval ratings, Biden is only more popular than Carter, who was defeated in a landslide by Ronald Reagan. Ouch, that’s gotta sting for Biden.
So, who’s behind this survey, you ask? Well, it was conducted by some supposedly “foremost organization of social science experts in presidential politics,” and they only got 154 usable responses out of 525 invites. Seems like a pretty small pool to be making such big claims, if you ask me.
But here’s where it gets really juicy – Trump was identified as the “most over-rated president” 27 times, and not only do respondents think poorly of him, but they also have a low opinion of his supporters. Honestly, can you blame them? The media and academia really love to hate on Trump and anyone who supports him.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Biden is considered one of the “most under-rated presidents”! Who would’ve thought? But wait, there’s more! Despite his efforts to demonize his political opponents, Biden doesn’t even make the list of most polarizing presidents. Not to mention, his own party ranks him lower than Republicans do! It’s a bit of a head-scratcher, isn’t it?
And let’s talk about these “greatness ratings.” Abraham Lincoln sits at a whopping 93.87, while Biden and Trump come in at 62.66 and 10.92, respectively. Yes, you read that right. Trump is ranked lower than presidents who led us into a Civil War. I mean, really? That seems a bit extreme.
But in the end, do we really care about these rankings? I mean, after all, over 40% of adults think Biden will be unsuccessful, according to a Pew Research poll. So, maybe we should take these rankings with a grain of salt and focus on the here and now. After all, there’s a 2024 rematch on the horizon, and things could look very different by then.
