The plight of the average American and the shifting international order all seem to come back to one source: the Biden administration’s war on fossil fuels, which could only be described as utterly absurd. One might argue that this crusade against energy was initiated with the George W. Bush administration, but it’s hard to deny that Joe Biden has taken this misguided approach to unprecedented heights. His administration has earned its place in the history books—not for great leadership, but for a spectacularly ill-conceived attack on America’s energy independence.
The most glaring example of this oil-and-gas fiasco is, of course, the cancellation of the Keystone XL Pipeline. Not to mention the administration’s obstruction of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales to foreign allies. What, exactly, was the endgame here? While American consumers are weeping over rising energy prices, regimes that don’t have America’s best interests at heart, like Iran, Venezuela, and Russia, are relishing their newfound financial pipelines to countries like China. It’s like giving away free burgers at McDonald’s while a food truck on the corner sells them for $10 each. Meanwhile, the Big Macs are getting cold as the U.S. sits on the sideline.
