In a move that will surely shock the socks off of conservatives across the nation, the Biden administration has decided to shower $623 million on grants to construct electric vehicle charging stations. Yes, you heard that right – electric! Vehicle! Charging! Stations! President Joe Biden’s grand plan is to yank drivers away from good ol’ gasoline-powered vehicles and steer them straight into the arms of these fancy-schmancy electric cars.
Now, while sales of electric vehicles have been inching up, they still only make up a measly 9% of all car sales in 2023. And hold on to your cowboy hats, folks, because the big automakers like General Motors, Ford, and Tesla have pumped the brakes on their investments. They must not be seeing the pot of gold at the end of the electric rainbow. Can’t say we blame ’em.

Praising this wacky investment is Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who seems to have drunk the electric Kool-Aid. He’s chirping about how this funding will make sure these EV chargers are as easy to find as a penny in a parking lot and create jobs for American workers. But come on, folks, we all know this is just another liberal plot to push the Green New Deal and snatch away our good, old-fashioned gas-guzzlers.
The gobs of money will be splattered across 47 EV charging stations in 22 states, including Puerto Rico, and a whopping 7,500 new EV charging stations. Golly, gee, that’s a lot of chargers! It’s as if they think everyone is going to ditch their reliable gas-powered cars for these electric contraptions.
Seems like President Biden won’t take no for an answer when it comes to his pipe dream of having 500,000 EV chargers. But hold onto your hats, folks, because the real zinger is that we need a whopping 28 million chargers by 2030 to really make this electric car switcheroo work. And to add insult to injury, the rate of EV adoption is zooming along nearly twice as fast as the rate of charger installation. It’s like trying to fill up a bucket with a leaky hose!
But don’t fret, my fellow patriots, because Republican lawmakers are digging their heels in to squash Biden’s electric escapade. They’re waving their fingers and writing snarky letters to Congress, demanding that taxpayer funding not be used for these hairbrained EV schemes. And those darn car dealers are grumbling, too, begging Biden to slow down on his electric vehicle takeover. It’s a real hoot, I tell ya!
So, there you have it, folks, the Biden administration is revving up its electric vehicle mania, but the road ahead looks bumpy and full of potholes. Rest assured, your gas-powered chariots are safe and sound for now!
