President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have once again shown their true colors by refusing to visit the devastated island of Maui, where deadly fires continue to rage. They claim it’s because they don’t want to distract from relief efforts, but we all know the real reason: they just don’t care about the American people.
Harris had the audacity to say that they don’t want to distract from the resources that need to go into helping the victims and supporting the first responders. But let’s be honest, no one is going to be distracted by their presence. In fact, I think the people of Maui would welcome any kind of attention and support they can get right now. It’s clear that the Biden Administration is more concerned with their own image than with actually helping those in need.

This isn’t the first time Biden has chosen to prioritize something else over the American people. Remember when he refused to visit the site of the deadly train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio? Instead, he jetted off to Ukraine, a country that just so happens to be the source of some questionable financial dealings for the Biden family. It’s clear where his priorities lie.
And let’s not forget about the millions of dollars that Biden continues to funnel to Ukraine in so-called “aid.” It’s clear that he cares more about a corrupt foreign country than he does about hard-working Americans whose lives are at risk. It’s a disgrace.
While Biden did issue a federal disaster declaration for Maui and release some aid, it’s not enough. The people of Maui need leadership, they need support, and they deserve to know that their government is truly there for them in their time of need. But instead, they get a president and vice president who can’t be bothered to show up and offer a few words of support.
Democratic Governor Josh Green has warned that the death toll will rise significantly in the coming days, thanks in part to the outages caused by the wildfires. It’s a dire situation, and the people of Maui deserve better. They deserve leaders who will prioritize their needs and actually show up when it matters.
But unfortunately, with Biden and Harris in charge, it’s clear that the American people will always come second. It’s time for a change. It’s time for leaders who will put America first and actually care about the well-being of its citizens. The people of Maui and all Americans deserve nothing less.
