Biden Threatens to Cut Israel Military Aid if Rafah Attacked

President Joe Biden has pledged to halt military assistance to Israel if their military goes into the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. This comes as Israel continues its attack on Hamas, the terrorist group responsible for a deadly attack on Israelis.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has taken a firm stand against allowing Hamas to use Gaza as a base for attacking Israel in the future. There are concerns about the potential use of military force in Rafah, and Biden has made it clear that he will not supply weapons for any offensive in the city.

Biden has also expressed support for Israel’s Iron Dome missile-defense system to ensure the country’s security. However, he has criticized Netanyahu’s push to eliminate Hamas in southern Gaza, which has led to tensions between the U.S. and Egypt.

The White House reportedly canceled a shipment of weapons to Israel last week to prevent a battle in Rafah. Israeli military units have approached the city, and there are reports of civilians fleeing the area in anticipation of a potential final battle.

Biden’s comments come as the situation in Rafah intensifies, with the Israeli military taking control of the city’s border crossing with Egypt and surrounding Hamas fighters and civilians. The IDF has stated that its operations in Rafah have been limited to military targets and ensuring aid enters the area for civilians.
