Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman of New York is going after his opponent, Westchester County Executive George Latimer, as they gear up for their primary race. President Joe Biden recently said he wouldn’t send certain weapons to Israel if they launched a ground invasion in Rafah. Bowman, who supports the Palestinians, criticized Latimer for not taking a stand on Biden’s decision, accusing him of siding with Republican donors over Biden.
Bowman suggested that Latimer’s support from a pro-Israel political action committee, AIPAC, means he’s putting the interests of Republicans ahead of Biden’s. AIPAC donated a significant amount to Latimer’s campaign, with some reports saying it made up 40% of his funding. The committee is backing Latimer in hopes of taking down progressive Democrats like Bowman, who have been openly critical of Israel’s actions.
Ok, what am I missing here? Why would Republican Mega donors be helping this corrupt Democrat Bowman in his campaign, who pulled down a fire alarm to interrupt proceedings as he did? This doesn’t seem right. https://t.co/21cSwWgya4

As the primary approaches, an April poll showed Bowman trailing Latimer by 17 points, with the majority of those polled expressing support for Israel and Latimer. The poll also revealed that a large percentage of the district has a positive view of the United States sending more aid to Israel.
The primary for New York’s 16th Congressional District is set to take place on June 25, where Bowman and Latimer will compete to secure the Democratic nomination.
