Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki have once again revived the well-worn narrative of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections. Despite numerous investigations and reports refuting these claims, Clinton and Psaki appear resolute in keeping this storyline alive.
Psaki initiated the conversation by inquiring whether Clinton harbored concerns about a reoccurrence of Russian interference in the forthcoming 2024 elections. Clinton wasted no time in invoking fear, insisting on a heightened discourse around the topic, as she firmly believes that Putin indeed meddled in our election. It seems like an exhausted and overused talking point.
Clinton proceeded to accuse Putin of meddling in the internal affairs of other nations, bankrolling political parties and candidates, and corrupting government officials. It's worth noting that Clinton herself has faced controversies and questionable conduct during her political career, but let's not get sidetracked.
According to Clinton, Putin is portrayed as a power-hungry supervillain with intentions to harm and divide the U.S. while expanding Russia's territory. It does sound like a plotline from a Hollywood movie, doesn't it? Additionally, Clinton asserted that Putin eliminates his critics, journalists, and anyone who disagrees with him. It's safe to say this is an exaggeration.
It's evident that Clinton's recent statements are an attempt to cling to a debunked narrative. Multiple investigations, including the Mueller report, found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Nonetheless, Clinton persists in propagating this false information, even suggesting that Putin worked against her because he didn't want her in the White House. Sorry, Hillary, but the world doesn't revolve around you.
In June 2023, Special Counsel John Durham revealed intelligence suggesting that Clinton had endorsed a plan to link then-presidential candidate Donald Trump to Russia back in 2016. It's quite ironic given the circumstances. Clinton's own involvement in attempting to vilify Trump demonstrates that she engaged in political maneuvering from the outset.
The Durham investigation aimed to scrutinize the origins of the FBI's 2016 inquiry into Russian interference and any potential connections between the Trump campaign and Russia. It discovered evidence of Clinton's campaign attempting to manipulate public perception of Trump while raising concerns about the FBI's actions during the 2016 election.
Despite all this, Clinton and her associates remain fixated on the past. They seem unable to accept that the 2016 election is a closed chapter. With the 2024 election on the horizon, it's time to focus on the future and leave these debunked conspiracy theories behind. However, it appears that some individuals simply can't move on.
