In a deeply problematic hit piece on Casey DeSantis, wife of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Daily Beast executive editor Katie Baker has revealed her blatant disrespect and lack of class. Apparently, the First Lady of Florida wore a leather jacket during a recent campaign stop in Iowa with a quote from Gov. DeSantis, “Florida: Where woke goes to die.” Though some may have thought it was a cool jacket, Baker referred to Casey DeSantis as the “Walmart Melania” in a disgusting and insulting way. Baker’s bias against Mrs. DeSantis is clear in her reference to the jacket as “ghastly,” and the fact that she insinuates that Mrs. DeSantis is not graceful or elegant in the way that Michelle Obama or Dr. Jill Biden are.

The Daily Beast writer also implies that Mrs. DeSantis is nothing but a hanger-on, stating that she relies too much on her own instincts rather than GOP consultants and strategists – as if there’s a problem with being true to oneself and following one’s own intuition. And let’s not forget the ridiculous comparisons between the leather jacket and Melania Trump’s “I Really Don’t Care” coat, which Mrs. Trump did not wear at the border. The whole piece is full of falsehoods and misunderstandings, as well as baseless accusations.

What’s even more distressing is the Daily Beast’s previous report on Ron DeSantis eating pudding with three fingers. This begs the question, do they really have nothing better to do other than make up false stories and insult elected officials’ families?
It’s despicable that media outlets like the Daily Beast believe it’s okay to deride conservative politicians and their families. Casey DeSantis is a successful woman in her own right and has had a positive impact on Florida, yet left-wing outlets like the Daily Beast can’t seem to find anything better to do than attack her. It’s clear that bias and hatred have no place in journalism.
