Twenty-two Democrats in the House of Representatives have once again shown their true colors by voting against a resolution to condemn Hamas supporters in American universities. It’s truly shocking that these elected officials would turn a blind eye to the rise in conflict in the Middle East and refuse to stand up against terrorist organizations. But alas, it seems that their progressive agenda outweighs the safety and well-being of Jewish students, faculty, and staff on college campuses.
Led by Republican Rep. Burgess Owens of Utah, the resolution passed with an overwhelming majority of 396 votes for and only 23 against, with 14 not voting. This shows that the vast majority of representatives recognize the importance of condemning Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations, as well as fighting against antisemitism on college campuses. It’s a shame that a small group of ideologically driven Democrats don’t see it that way.
Among those who voted against the resolution are several familiar names from the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, Jamaal Bowman of New York, Cori Bush of Missouri, and other members of “The Squad” have made it clear where their loyalties lie. Instead of supporting the safety and well-being of Jewish students, they choose to side with Palestinians living in Gaza.

It’s important to note that these Democrats have also previously voted against a motion condemning Hamas for a deadly attack on October 7, which claimed the lives of many innocent Israelis. This pattern of siding with terrorists is deeply disturbing and raises serious questions about the priorities and values of these elected officials.
Tensions on college campuses have been escalating as expressions of support for Palestinians have turned into support for Hamas’s actions and overt antisemitic threats. The actions of these 22 Democrats only contribute to this toxic environment and further marginalize Jewish students. It’s clear that the progressive agenda of these lawmakers takes precedence over the safety and well-being of our students.
The incidents at Harvard University and George Washington University, where pro-Palestinian messages were projected onto a library and Jewish alumni threatened to withdraw funding, are just further examples of the dangerous climate that these Democrats are creating. It’s time for these elected officials to prioritize the safety and well-being of all students, regardless of their ethnicity or religion, rather than pushing their own misguided agenda. The American people deserve representatives who will stand up against terrorism and antisemitism, not enable it.
