Don Lemon Fired: “Too Truthful” or Just a PR Nightmare?

Don Lemon, who was fired from CNN in April because he was always in trouble as a show, recently said some funny things about the situation. Lemon told the Memphis branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in an interview with a local Memphis, Tennessee, ABC station that he was fired because he was too honest and tried to live up to the promise of the Constitution. He says that as an American and a writer, he has a duty to tell the truth and follow what the Constitution says. He also said that he didn't think CNN should give a voice to liars, bigots, insurrectionists, or people who say the election wasn't fair. All of these are people that CNN has given space to.

It's not a big surprise that Lemon seems to have forgotten the facts about why he was fired. CNN apparently didn't like how he treated his female coworkers or how he acted on set. He went to training and openly apologized for saying that Republican Nikki Haley was not in her "prime" when he was talking about her. But he never told Haley directly that he was sorry. Vivek Ramaswamy, who is running for president as a Republican, also brought up the debate surrounding Lemon that led CNN to finally fire him.

It's funny that Lemon says he's standing up for the Constitution, which he thinks requires him to tell the truth, but it was his mistakes and bad behavior that got him fired in the end. Now, Lemon says he's just going to hang out for a while, but given the trouble he's caused in the past, it's not clear who would want to take him in. It's hard to say what Lemon will do next, but it's clear that his idea of the truth is very narrow, and it's a shame that this has cost him his job.
