Special Counsel John Durham’s testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday produced some fireworks from both Democrats and Republicans. Towards the end of the hearing, Republican members, including Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), grilled Durham about his investigation into Joseph Mifsud. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) asked Durham if he interviewed Mifsud and if he was associated with Western intelligence. Durham responded that they attempted to interview Mifsud, contacted his lawyer in Europe, and talked to everyone involved at Link University, but they were unable to locate him.

Gaetz criticized Durham for failing to locate Mifsud after four years of investigation. Gaetz pointed out that they were able to locate Mifsud’s lawyer and were given two BlackBerry phones from him, but still couldn’t find Mifsud. Gaetz also accused Durham of not investigating the Mueller team’s decision to wipe their phones and not charging Andrew McCabe. Gaetz suggested that Durham was part of the cover-up and that he let down the American people.
