In a recent interaction with a self-proclaimed former FBI agent, GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy received a cautionary warning to tread carefully in his advocacy for the shutdown of the FBI. Mike Wyatt, who asserted his two-decades-long service in the FBI, expressed disappointment in the bureau, citing a departure from its core values of fidelity, bravery, and integrity.
Wyatt, seemingly concerned about potential repercussions for Ramaswamy due to his stance, urged caution, emphasizing the need to be careful. In response, Ramaswamy, known for his wit, replied, "You mean ‘be careful,’ be careful." Wyatt's wife joined the conversation, expressing concerns over the aggressive nature of "alphabet organizations" and warning that they are likely to come after Ramaswamy, even if he intends to return to private life.
Following this exchange, Ramaswamy shared a video on social media, recounting the meeting with the former FBI agent and his wife. He emphasized his agreement with their call to "root out corruption and shut down the FBI." Ramaswamy argued for relying on existing institutions at both the local and federal levels, expressing concerns about the potential for politicized corruption within an intermediary bureaucracy like the FBI.
