Well, well, well. It seems like Capitol Hill just can’t stay out of the headlines lately! Hot on the heels of the shocking release of a video featuring a former gay staffer getting up to no good in one of the Senate’s most esteemed hearing rooms, another scandalous video has hit the news. This time, it involves a former staffer for Congressman Dan Newhouse, a well-respected Republican from Washington.
According to reports, the House launched a hush-hush investigation last year into some, let’s say, “unbecoming behavior” by a former staffer for Congressman Newhouse. However, despite their efforts, no concrete evidence was found. Talk about a swing and a miss, right?

But wait, it gets juicier. The video, which allegedly made the rounds on Snapchat among congressional staffers and associates, shows a man engaged in some unsavory activities inside a House office building. Yikes! And if that wasn’t enough, a screenshot from the video even surfaced, showing two men involved in a lewd act in an office setting. Seriously, what is going on in the hallowed halls of Congress?
Of course, when the news broke, Congressman Newhouse was quick to distance himself from the scandal, claiming he only found out about the video in June of 2022. Apparently, he was told that one of the individuals involved was suspected of being a member of his staff. And what did he do? Well, he immediately contacted the “appropriate House entities” to launch an investigation. Good on you, Congressman! But seriously, who would’ve thought that this kind of salacious drama would be unfolding in our nation’s capital?
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any wilder, it turns out that the former staffer at the center of this whole mess is none other than Sean O’Brien, Newhouse’s former deputy chief of staff. O’Brien, who conveniently scrubbed or deleted his social media profiles, claimed he left the congressman’s office on good terms to pursue a job outside of D.C. You can’t make this stuff up!
Of course, this bombshell comes just days after the shocking revelation of another scandal involving a former aide to Senator Ben Cardin, a Democrat from Maryland, who was caught engaging in some eyebrow-raising behavior in the Senate chambers. Talk about a one-two punch, right?
All in all, it seems like Capitol Hill is turning into a real-life soap opera these days. Who needs reality TV when you’ve got all the drama and scandal unfolding in Congress? It’s like the gift that keeps on giving. But hey, at least it keeps things interesting, right?
