This is so juicy! So, there’s this progressive lawmaker, Rep. Greg Casar from Texas, who was all gung-ho about defunding the Austin Police Department when he was on the city council. But get this, now that he’s in the hot seat, he’s asking for more protection outside of his home! Can you believe the nerve of this guy?
The cheeky request was passed along to the Austin Police Department by the United States Capitol Police. Casar’s office was tight-lipped about the whole thing, saying they wouldn’t comment on “active security matters.” They also made it clear that they hadn’t even talked to the Austin Police Department about this request because it’s all being handled by the United States Sergeant at Arms and the U.S. Capitol Police. Yeah, like we totally believe that!

The Austin Police Retired Officers Association didn’t waste any time calling out Casar’s double standards. They’re all like, “Hey, this guy was bashing the police just last week, and now he wants extra patrols around his place? Talk about hypocrisy!” They even suggested that maybe Casar should follow in the footsteps of his “fellow squad members” and hire private security instead of relying on the cops. Ouch, that’s gotta sting!
And as if that’s not enough, on top of being all about defunding the police, Casar recently wrote to the Department of Justice making a big fuss about the Austin PD. He was calling for all kinds of “systemic reforms” and pointing fingers at the department for things like excessive force, racial discrimination, and discrimination against people with mental health conditions. Phew, this guy really knows how to stir up some drama!
In conclusion, it looks like Rep. Casar’s “do as I say, not as I do” attitude is getting him into some hot water. It’s like he’s all about trashing the police publicly, but when it comes to his own safety, suddenly he’s a big fan of the boys in blue. Maybe he should take a long, hard look in the mirror before he starts throwing shade at others. But hey, that’s politics for you!
