Details have emerged that put a spotlight on just how far some will go against conservatives. The gunman who attempted to take out former President Donald Trump seems to have taken a page from the deranged liberal playbook by researching the assassination of Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico just before making his move at a Trump rally. The FBI, in all its bureaucratic glory, revealed these tidbits during a briefing that was less about transparency and more of a “let’s-salvage-our-reputation” exercise.
This mastermind, Thomas Matthew Crooks, is reportedly no amateur. Acting like a B-movie villain, he scoured information on mass shootings, all while plotting his misguided attack against Trump at a July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. While FBI agents are sifting through Crooks’s digital footprints, it appears they’re concerned he’s managed to cover his tracks well enough that his motives remain about as clear as mud. It makes one wonder how someone can plan an attack and yet still fly under the radar, even from his own family, which raises questions about the effectiveness of the FBI’s public outreach efforts.

With over 450 interviews conducted and seemingly no one keeping tabs on Crooks, the performance of those who are supposed to keep Americans safe certainly deserves scrutiny. One has to wonder how someone could be researching high-profile attacks without attracting any notice. Kevin Rojek, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office, hinted that Crooks made significant efforts to dodge detection. Call it a “carefully planned” operation if one wants. Still, it could also be seen as a stark reminder of the security concerns surrounding political events – a concern that should be taken much more seriously by authorities.
In what can only be described as a harrowing twist of fate, Trump was shot in the ear during the event, a situation that arose as he shifted his focus to a chart on illegal immigration. The timing, it seems, was almost cinematic. Law enforcement was aware of Crooks’s presence about 50 minutes before the attack but, in classic governmental fashion, opted to do absolutely nothing. With a drone hovering innocently above the rally just hours before the chaos, it’s evident that Crooks had quite a setup.
In response to this chaotic series of events, U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle felt compelled to resign after appearing as about as useful as a screen door on a submarine during congressional questioning. The aftermath raises questions about the seriousness with which the government takes threats to its leaders. The incident not only underscores a troubling trend of escalating violence against conservative figures but also highlights the potential lapses in protective protocols that need immediate scrutiny. Meanwhile, Trump has agreed to cooperate with the investigation, which will likely open up more opportunities for media frenzy rather than leading to swift justice.
